Corydoras catfish are small, armored bottom-dwellers beloved for their playful schooling behavior and constant activity along the substrate.
Tank Setup
Corydoras prefer a soft, sandy substrate that won’t damage their delicate barbels while foraging. A planted tank with some open sand area works well — see our aquascaping basics guide.
Social Behavior
Corydoras are a schooling species and should always be kept in groups of six or more. In smaller groups they tend to hide and show much less of their natural, endearing behavior.
Diet
Sinking wafers and pellets designed for bottom feeders are ideal, supplemented with occasional frozen bloodworms. They’ll also clean up leftover food from mid-water fish.
Compatibility
Corydoras are extremely peaceful and pair well with almost any non-aggressive community fish, including betta fish, tetras, and rasboras.
